Kelechi Iheanacho was one of Nigeria’s most outstanding players in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League as Leicester City marched into the Round of 32 of the competition.
He netted three goals and produced as many assists for ‘The Foxes’ to reach the knockout stage of the competition.
He tallied a total of 2,300 points in the UEFA Player Ranking, behind Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal, 2519) and Peter Olayinka (Slavia Praha, 2811).
In the Premier League, he scored five goals last season.
It was a record only bettered by the eight goals he scored for Manchester City in his debut season in England four years ago.
His appearances in the league have been limited by the form of Jamie Vardy and so this season, he has only made eight appearances while still waiting for his first goal.
With the Super Eagles, he made a deserved comeback in October to score against Tunisia in a friendly.
This was after he was overlooked by coach Gernot Rohr since after the 2018 World Cup in Russia no thanks to his struggles at Leicester City.
He will still remain an option in attack for the country in the New Year.
