After seven years in Europe, Chidozie Awaziem appears to have finally found his groove at Portuguese club Boavista.
The 24-year-old defender posted 27 appearances for cash-strapped Boavista to keep their place in the Portuguese top league this last season.
However, he will have to work on his disciplinary record after he was sent off twice and was booked nine times in the course of the campaign.
All the same, he had done enough on loan for Boavista to fork out five Million Euros to buy him on a permanent basis from FC Porto.
Speculations are now rife that Boavista could do a quick of piece of transfer business by loaning him out to Turkish champions Besiktas, who will also have the option to buy out his contract thereafter.
The Turkish Super Lig will not be strange to Awaziem having featured there with Rizespor on loan in 2019.
On the international scene, the Enugu-born player has done well to be very much a part of the star-studded Super Eagles squad.
His versatility has allowed him to play in the heart of the back four or at right back.
In June, he displayed great confidence and class in central defence in the two friendlies against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in Austria which should bode well for him when the 2022 World Cup qualifiers gather momentum in September.
He will most certainly be adding to his dozen international caps in the coming months.
