FIFA have ruled that Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr cannot register new players until a debt of around 500,000 Euros is paid to Leicester City in respect of bonuses in the transfer of Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa.
A FIFA spokesperson confirmed the ban that Al-Nassr, where Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo plays, could not field their new signings until further notice.
“Al-Nassr club are currently banned from registering new players due to large debts. This ban will be lifted as soon as the settlement of the debt has been confirmed by the creditor,” FIFA announced.
The world football body slammed Al-Nassr for not paying certain bonuses to the English club Leicester within the framework of the transfer agreement of Ahmed Musa in 2018.
The Nigerian had been recruited by the Saudis for 16.5 million Euros and his performance had activated bonuses planned during the transfer.
‘The Foxes’ filed a suit in April 2021 and a court ruling in October 2021 ruled in favour of Leicester, with Al-Nassr ordered to pay €460,000 plus 5% annual interest.
