Ryan Sanusi, whose father is Nigerian, has spoken for the first time of how he has been filled with pride to have started out at the Beerschot youth team and he is now an established member of the first team of the Antwerp club.
The 29-year-old midfielder has posted a solid season for Beerschot after he started out with the team’s U8 and U19 before he moved out to Holland at 18.
He will go on to feature for Dutch clubs Willem II and Sparta Rotterdam.
Thereafter he joined Grenoble in the French Ligue 2 before he headed back to his first love Beerschot and helped them win promotion back to the Belgian top flight.
“I hope that my story can inspire the young players at the club,” Sanusi said.
Last season, he made 15 appearances in the Belgian second division and he has already made 26 appearances and scored a goal this season in the top flight. Beerschot are sixth on the table.
