One of the big selection headaches for Gernot Rohr ahead of Saturday’s showdown in Benin will be who will play on the left wing in the absence of Moses Simon and Samuel Kalu with Alex Iwobi not keen to play there.
Match winner against Benin two years ago, Kalu has suffered another thigh injury in action for French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux, while FC Nantes did not release Moses Simon as they pull all the stops in their fight to escape relegation.
Recently, Iwobi made it clear via social media that he prefers to play as a No 10 and not on the left wing as he was played at some point by Everton.
He is likely to again play for the Eagles behind top striker Osimhen, which means Joe Aribo will have to start from the bench.
Rohr has always played with two wingers and he will again do so against Benin Saturday.
Left-footed Samuel Chukwueze will keep his place on the right wing, while Henry Onyekuru, who has enjoyed a good run at Turkish club Galatasaray, could well get a rare Eagles start on the left side of the attack.
