Gernot Rohr has not given up on being the man to lead the Super Eagles to the delayed 2021 AFCON in January despite speculations he has been relieved of his post by the NFF.
Rohr told Punch Sports Extra:”Hopefully, we will be in charge to lead the team to the AFCON.”
Rohr said this while maintaining he has not reached an agreement with his employers to step down as Eagles coach.
This is contrary to the position of top officials who have said Rohr will be paid off for a new man to take charge of the national team.
This comes as SCORENigeria has learnt that besides submitting last week a 40-man provisional squad for the AFCON, Rohr also handed his technical report for the 1-1 draw with Cape Verde in Lagos as well as the preparation plans for the AFCON in Cameroon.
The 68-year-old coach has a contract with Nigeria till December 2022.
He has been in charge of the three-time African champions since August 2016.
