Gernot Rohr has praised the Super Eagles for the good reaction they showed by avenging a 1-0 loss at home to Central African Republic with a 2-0 win today in Douala, Cameroon.
First half goals by Leon Balogun and Victor Osimhen gave the Eagles victory today and they are now five points clear at the top of Group C.
“It was a good reaction from my team,” praised Rohr.
“We were unlucky to lose the first game, so everybody wanted to take revenge.”
The coach said a change in formation and the leadership of Ahmed Musa helped them to turn the table against the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic.
“We changed the system with three players at the back (3-5-2) and this helped us with the leadership of (Ahmed) Musa,” he credited.
“We can now prepare calmly for the next games in November.”
Nigeria will first visit Liberia before a final home game against Cape Verde between November 11-16 to round up the group stage of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
