Some Super Eagles players have suffered flight cancellations no thanks to the Coronavirus Pandemic in Europe, but officials are working round the clock to ensure all the call-ups make it to the AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
Coach Gernot Rohr disclosed this when he arrived Abuja today preparatory to Friday’s clash against the Leone Stars in Benin City.
“The team manager is working to sort the problem and we still hope all 23 players will be in Benin at least by Tuesday,” he said.
Spain-based defender Kenneth Omeruo has already ruled himself out of the qualifiers, while injured FC Nantes winger Moses Simon has been replaced by Genk striker Paul Onuachu.
Uncapped goalkeeper Sebastian Osigwe has also recovered from Covid-19 and will be in Benin.
Friday’s clash will be played without fans with the reverse leg in Freetown four days later.
