Gernot Rohr has promised the Super Eagles will turn the table against Central African Republic Sunday even after his team were stunned by the same team at home.
On Thursday, the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic shocked star-studded Super Eagles 1-0 in Lagos to throw wide open Group C of the 2022 World Cup qualifying tournament.
Both teams clash again Sunday in Douala, Cameroon, the adopted home of CAR.
“We go there to win the game,” Rohr maintained.
“We were the better team (on Thursday), but sometimes the better team do not win.
“They were a bit lucky to score against us, while we had a lot of chances to score. We lacked a little bit of efficiency.
“Despite the defeat, we did not deserve to lose this game.”
He added: “We must stay calm and not panic.
“We must give a big knock on the head of everybody, analyse the game and make some changes in the team.
“We have to find our winning spirit, a new motivation, because everyone is down.”
The coach said he expects his team to express themselves better on the “big, wonderful pitch” in Douala and was equally excited that they will now fly to nearby Cameroon and not to Bangui, which is farther away.
