Club Brugge and not Sporting Charleroi would have been the club smiling all the way to the bank with millions from the recent transfer of Victor Osimhen, but the Belgian champions missed out after they offered him a low salary.
Club Brugge were keen to sign him on loan from Wolfsburg two years ago, but according to the striker’s brother, Andrew Osimhen, the salary they offered him was “too low”.
“Three days before the transfer market closed, Club came knocking for him, but they put a far too low salary on the table,” he told Complete Sports.
“He would have got a lot of playing time, but he said no. ”
“One day before the market closed, he told me he was going to Charleroi.”
The rest, they say is history – Osimhen shone at Charleroi for the modest club to buy him from Wolfsburg for 3.5 million Euros.
They will subsequently sell him to Lille for 14 million Euros and they will now earn from additional millions after Osimhen moved for a record fee of more than 80 million Euros to Napoli recently.
