A special report by leading Turkish newspaper Sabah has highlighted what they believe to be the main reason some of Europe’s top clubs have not tried to break the bank to sign Victor Osimhen.
The striker’s hefty salary has been seen as one reason to scare the big clubs, but according to Sabah, besides his stint at Galatasaray Osimhen has yet to play up to 40 matches-a-season at his previous other clubs no thanks to injuries.
“The 27-year-old striker has not been able to reach the 40-match mark outside of Galatasaray,” the newspaper reported.
“Osimhen, who pushes his athletic abilities to their limits and therefore struggles with injuries, has a problem with consistency, which has not gone unnoticed by European clubs.
“Haaland, who is being compared to Osimhen, played 4,045 minutes in 48 matches last season, while Kane played 3,962 minutes in 51 matches.”
The all-action Osimhen is currently out injured due to a fractured forearm, which needed surgery, and he is only expected to be back in action later this month.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Osimhen has been linked again to some of the top clubs, from Barcelona to PSG, and it is now left to be seen whether one of them will finally take a chance on him.
