Remo Stars today joined fellow Nigerian club Enyimba to crash out of the CAF Champions League after they fell 3-2 on penalties to Medeama SC of Ghana in a preliminary round second leg match played at Ikenne.
Remo Stars restored parity on aggregate when Medeama SC goalkeeper Felix Kyei spilled a corner into his own net.
The Nigerian club thought they had got the go-ahead goal in the closing minutes of this return leg tie, but the effort was chalked off for offside.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, Remo Stars scored two of their penalties, while the visitors netted three of their kicks to advance to the first round of the competition.
Bendel Insurance are now the only Nigerian club on the continent after they qualified for the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup at the expense of ASO Chlef of Algeria.
Insurance advanced 4-3 on penalties after both teams were tied 1-1 on aggregate.
