Red-hot striker Jerome Akor will miss Lillestrom next game after he was sent off after his team’s 1-0 loss at Haugesund.
The home team took the lead in the closing minutes of the league clash, while Lillestrom had an equaliser chalked off by VAR.
After the match, a furious Akor received his second yellow card.
The Nigerian top scorer grabbed an opponent and raged at the referee.
He had to be dragged away by goalkeeper coach Fredrik Vestgård and assistant coach Frode Kippe, among others.
“I didn’t see all the details, but it is difficult to make a firm statement. I think the referee let it slip at the end,” said sports director and acting coach Simon Mesfin.
“There is no excuse for the occasional behavior of Akor, but there is a lot of energy that needs to be released. We will talk to him.”
It was the first loss by Mesfin since he took charge of the team following the departure of the head coach to Valerenga.
