Scottish champions Rangers plan to negotiate with the Super Eagles to hold on to Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo till after the Glasgow Derby against Celtic in January before they join up for the AFCON in Cameroon.
The Old Firm Derby is scheduled for January 2, but clubs are expected players for the AFCON by December 27, according to FIFA rules and regulations.
According to various media reports, Rangers enjoy an excellent relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and they expect them to oblige them.
“Top Premier League clubs in England will attempt to do likewise with the African Nations Cup in a bid to keep their players a few days longer before they set off for Cameroon,” reported Daily Record.
