The core of the Nigeria U23 team who dumped Sudan 5-0 in Asaba Tuesday to qualify for the U23 AFCON in Egypt will also battle Togo for a place in next year’s CHAN, SCORENigeria has specially gathered.
Officials informed SCORENigeria that the home-based players in the team will form the bulk of the side that will take on Togo later this month in the final playoff for the 2020 CHAN.
The players have therefore been ordered to report immediately to training camp in Abuja as a result.
The players will therefore include first-choice goalkeeper Adamu Abubakar, defenders Olisa Ndah, John Lazarus and Ebube Duru as well as midfielders Fatai Gbadamosi, Ndifreke Effiong and Sunusi Ibrahim, who were fully involved in the destruction of Sudan Tuesday.
Coach Imama Amapakabo will be in charge of the team.
Nigeria reached the final of last year’s CHAN in Morocco.
