The World Cup dream of Promise David, who opted for Canada ahead of the Super Eagles, may well have been dashed by an injury that could sideline him for several months.
The striker has suffered a hip injury at the weekend against Antwerp and according to HLN that should he undergo surgery, he could be sidelined for at least six months.
Promise David, who was capped by the Nigeria U23s, helped Union St.Gilloise win the Belgian league and was pushing for a place on the squad of World Cup co-hosts Canada after he changed his international allegiance from Nigeria.
The 2026 World Cup will kick off in June with USA, Canada and Mexico as hosts.
