NFF president Ibrahim Gusau has appealed to spiritual leaders across the country to pray for the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
The Super Eagles languish second from bottom of Group C of the 2026 World Cup qualifying series with three points after four rounds of matches.
Gusau admitted the Super Eagles are struggling to qualify for the World Cup and appealed directly to the Chairman, Council of Ulamas, who was at the Kano State FA awards night Saturday night, to salvage the situation with prayers.
The World Cup qualifiers will resume March 2025.
The NFF have announced they will appoint a new foreign coach for the Super Eagles before the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, which begin in September, and are also expected to take some drastic measures to turnaround the country’s flagging qualifying campaign.
Prayers do not win matches, but good planning, adequate preparation, and commitment. In every facet of Nija life, the country has been a huge joke. It will be a miracle if Nigeria qualifies.
Prayers are being offered amidst woeful results. Why not try different approach?
Advice our players to PRAY with their legs. Conversely, Nigerians to PLAY in their hearts.
This NFF President is not serious…..Pray for Super Eagles to qualify for 2026 World Cup…. Are you kidding me?
