Coach Randy Wadrum has blamed the Super Falcons disastrous outing at the Paris 2024 Olympics on poor preparations.
The Super Falcons return to the Olympics after a 16-year absence was most forgettable as they lost all three group games.
Nigeria were drawn in a “tough” group with women’s football power houses Spain and Japan and could only manage to score a goal in three games.
“We prepared for them (all the three opponents) based on the fact that we haven’t had a lot of time,” Waldrum told ESPN
“We missed the last (international break) window before the Olympics, and so we missed 10 days of good training before the Olympics.”
Waldrum’s contract with the NFF ended with the Olympics.

It’s good that this man’s contract ended with the Olympics. He is, in my opinion, the worst coach in the history of the Super Falcons. He is the only one that never won anything, not even the WAFCON! What is he on about? The NFF and the Sports Ministry gave him all he asked for ahead of the Olympics, and now this rubbish about ‘poor preparations?’ Even the World Cup was all on the ladies. If we were braver, rather than playing counter-attacking football with a one player advantage, we would have beaten England. If he was good enough, he would be coaching the US team, not Nigeria. The NFF need to re-engage Florence Omagbemi or find a world class coach for the Falcons. The coach does not have to be European either, just competent and committed! And regarding the Super Eagles, what is the hold up on the new Coach? Why does history keep repeating itself with the NFF?
For the record, if you want to hire an American coach for any sport, make sure it’s Basketball. Even their Soccer FA don’t rate them highly for their Men or Women’s teams. That is a fact!
