The Police in Denmark are now seeking the extradition of one-time Super Eagles invitee Akinkunmi Amoo for him to serve his jail sentence for rape.
TV2 reported that Copenhagen Police now want him to face justice.
Amoo played two seasons in Hammarby before moving on to the Danish major club FC Copenhagen in January 2022.
In 2023 – when he still belonged to FCK – the Nigerian was sentenced to one year in prison for, among other things, sexual assault and rape.
But the 24-year-old has not yet served his sentence and therefore the Copenhagen police are looking for him internationally, as several Danish media outlets are reporting.
“The convicted person has been detained in absentia for the purpose of enforcing the sentence. In cases where there is a detention order against a person suspected of being abroad, the police and prosecutor will try to have the person transferred to Denmark. This is also the case in this case,” the police told Danish TV2.
Amoo – who in addition to the prison sentence was sentenced to a six-year entry ban – left Denmark to play in Cyprus and the club Omonia Nicosia, and has since belonged to two Chinese clubs.
He is currently without a club.
