Placing A Successful Bet: Tips and Tricks

Tired of having spoilt tickets? Want to improve your chances of winning your bets? Well, we have got some tips and tricks for you!

Before we proceed, here is a little disclaimer! No one actually knows sports betting. We can only try our best; and hope for the best.

Sports betting is largely dependent on luck, and a bit of common sense. The outcome of a sporting event is completely out of our hands.

Who could have predicted that small Central Africa Republic would disgrace the almighty Super Eagles here in Lagos?

Just imagine how much betting companies would have made from that match; and how much Nigerians would have lost from placing wagers on that encounter.

Someone said he played ordinary “1X and Over 1.5″… Incredible!

Anyway, that Super Eagles example is one of the many occupational hazards for a sports bettor in Nigeria, and indeed, everywhere else in the world. But as we say, “we move”!

Right. What can we do to improve our chances of winning bets?

Do Plenty of Research

It is true that betting is very dependent on luck, but you can also make your own luck. Instead of placing bets blindly, you can help yourself by spending plenty of time on research and making your own findings.

Again, this does not guarantee success, but research gives you a better chance of winning your bets.

Before betting on any team, find out information like recent form, team news and history against the opposition.

And you don’t have to dig too deep to see this info.

There are detailed stats pages on many betting sites in Nigeria, helping you know more about the teams you are betting on. Endeavour to spend some time on these stats while you decide on the betting option you want to go for.

Listen to Proven Tipsters

No man is an island. We all need some sort of support to rise higher. If someone is better than you at something, you can always learn from that person. There is no shame in that.

These days, tipsters are everywhere, especially on social media. Since there are quite a lot of them, it may be difficult to know which one to follow.

Our advice is to stick to one of two with a proven track record of winning. The next time he/she wins, you win as well. Very simple!

Unfortunately, the reverse is also very accurate. The next time he/she loses, you also lose! The game is the game!

You can combine your tipster’s selections with your own knowledge and come up with potentially better results.

Follow Your Guts

It is all well and good to do plenty of research and listen to tipsters, but in the end, following your guts can be the simple recipe for success in sports betting.

If you are convinced that Manchester United will defeat Chelsea, for whatever reason, maybe you should just go for it and hope for the best.

You can do all the analyses in this world, but in the end, the outcome of sporting events depends on what happens on the pitch, on the day.

These events are so unpredictable and can be affected by unforeseen in-game variables.

As we conclude, we leave you with one final piece of advice.

Don’t get too caught up in trying to make money from online betting. We look at sports betting from an entertainment angle, rather than as a business venture.

Yes, that is easier said than done, but you have to try.

Also, spend only what you can afford to lose on sports betting. And if you feel like you are spending too much money, please take a break!
