Paul Mukairu was “tremendous” in attack when Anderlecht upstaged high-flying Genk to record a confidence-boosting win in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League at the weekend.
Mukairu and captain on the day Sambi Lokonga were singled out for special praise for what many analysts described as the best performance by Anderlecht this season.
“Anderlecht, for example, also forced more corner kicks against Genk, which also resulted in more direct target danger than usual,” reported Voetbalnieuws
“Vincent Kompany’s team simply acted more efficiently on the offensive on Friday than during the previous league matches.
“Exactly half of the offensive duels performed were won, which is six percent more than the Purple & White (Anderlecht) seasonal average. And that is also a remarkable finding.
“That high average was mainly due to Paul Mukairu. The 20-year-old Nigerian took the lion’s share of offensive actions, 22 of the total 74 to be precise, and he showed tremendous efficiency.
“No starter from Anderlecht could exceed his 73 percent efficiency in the attacking duels.”
Mukairu has scored a goal and provided two assists for Anderlecht since his arrival this summer.
