The player from the Premier League who made the best impression with the Flying Eagles in training camp in Abuja, Arsenal winger Joel Ideho, has missed out on the final squad because he does not have a Nigerian passport.
SCORENigeria gathered that coach Ladan Bosso admired Ideho, but frantic efforts to get him a Nigerian passport in time for visa applications to Morocco and Egypt were fruitless.
“There’s a scarcity of passport booklets and so we couldn’t meet the visa application for the player,” a team official told SCORENigeria
“The coach really liked the player but he has to be left out for the AFCON, he will certainly be considered for the World Cup should the team qualify.”
Norwich City U21 striker Kenny Coker and winger Thompson Ishaka from Glasgow Rangers did well in camp, but there are equally good options in attack from the domestic league.
Crystal Palace striker Ademola Ola-Adebomi did not have the physicality needed at the AFCON.
