Victor Osimhen will again be the nightmare of opposing defenders at the 2025 AFCON, according to fellow Super Eagles star Frank Onyeka.
This will be Osimhen’s second AFCON after his tournament debut a year ago in Cote d’Ivoire, where he scored a goal.
“He’s such an amazing player,” Onyeka told BBC.
“He’s a guy that wants to fight for every single ball. For me, T think the defenders are scared of him.
“Victor is on another level.”
Osimhen scored six goals in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and added two more in the Playoffs in Morocco.
Nigeria failed to go past DR Congo in the final Playoffs in Rabat after the Galatasaray striker could not come out for the second half against the Leopards.
“Missing Victor going into the second half, (it) changed (the game) a bit.
“Even one of the players from Congo said the same.
“When Victor left it gave the defenders a bit of rest and then they can relax a bit.”
Onyeka said the failure to qualify for the World Cup is the motivation the Super Eagles need now to win the AFCON in Morocco.
“It’s sad that we did not qualify for the next World Cup, with the talent that we have,” he said.
“It’s a motivation for us to go into the AFCON and win it and bring it back home.”
