SCORENigeria can report that Victor Osimhen has now been named as the main assistant to Super Eagles new captain Wilfred Ndidi and he will also be the team’s penalty taker.
“Osimhen will deputise for Ndidi as captain of the team and he has also been named by the team to be the first to take their penalties,” a team source informed SCORENigeria
Ndidi, 29, took over the Super Eagles captaincy following the retirement from international football of William Ekong.
He along with Moses Simon and Alex Iwobi are the most senior internationals at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco having all made their debuts 10 years ago.
Galatasaray star striker Osimhen made his Super Eagles debut in 2017, but he has widely been supported to be the leader of the national team because of his whole-hearted commitment to the country’s team.
