Victor Osimhen has praised the character of Napoli after they barely scraped a 2-0 home win over stubborn Empoli to consolidate their leadership of Serie A.
Osimhen failed to score, but caused the penalty from which Napoli took the lead in the second half.
It was not vintage Napoli in front of their fans, but they did just enough to get the maximum points.
However, Super Eagles star striker Osimhen hailed the winning mentality of his team.
“Top notch mentality from the boys, we keep it moving @sscnapoli,” he tweeted after the laboured win.
Napoli are now eight points clear of defending champions AC Milan with 38 points from 14 matches.
Should they avoid defeat at home against Udinese Saturday, they will go unbeaten in Serie A going into the World Cup break.
They last won the Scudetto in 1990.
