Victor Osimhen has paid a glowing tribute to Brazilian legend Mario Jardel after he set aside his goals record to become the most prolific foreign player in Turkish football.
Osimhen has thus far netted 35 goals, a goal better than what Jardel scored 24 years ago.
The Super Eagles striker said Jardel set the stage and players like him are only following his path.
“A new record for the most goals scored by a foreign player in a season (35 goals) but first, respect to the KING, the LEGEND Mario Jardel, who set this standard 24 years ago,” Osimhen posted on social media.
“34 goals that inspire every foreign player who dreams of making history at Galatasaray…I broke that record yesterday (Wednesday), but I didn’t do it alone. I walked on the path opened by the legend Mario Jardel.
“Thank you for showing us what is possible.
“This moment may be mine, but the foundation belongs to you.”
