Osimhen, no better time to join Manchester United than now

IKENWA NNABUOGOR charges SSC Napoli bomber Victor Osimhen to grab a chance Manchester United’s offer should it come by…

As predicted by yours truly since Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen broke loose in the transfer market to dump Nicolas Pepe’s African record of €72 million to the archives, it will take some damning guts for the former Lille striker to reject Manchester United should they really come calling.

Latest reports suggest that Manchester United followed up on the frantic chase of the Napoli point man with an offer of €140 to bring Osimhen over to Old Trafford in exchange for Cristiano Ronaldo moving in opposite direction.

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes, reports have it, has been fighting to persuade Napoli do business to trade their most prized Nigerian acquisition with the multiple English champions, whose fortunes have nosedived lately despite bringing back the erstwhile talisman Ronaldo from Juventus.

This is not the first time the former Champions League winners have expressed their wish to have Osimhen in their ranks, but it appears they’re serious now as things have badly turned around for the worse for the Red Devils to eye Osimhen’s goals to keep moving.

Osimhen – From Lille to Napoli. Next Manchester United?

Osimhen has had his stocks rise so admirably since he left Lille of France for the Neopolitans two seasons ago and slowing down is not in his immediate and long term plans as his names strike fear in opposing teams in Italy and in Europe.

The Glazer family would have none of their money not doing the talk for the once-feared great English club and have stepped up with everything possible to make the club great again with an eye on Osimhen.

Coaches have come and gone, and yet no change in sight as Manchester United free fall worsened with not even traces of once dare Devil’s sniffing at honours in Europe for the past few seasons.

Osimhen’s looking deadlier this season and taking no prisoners in his hungry drive at goal despite all his family troubles – a fiery form Napoli are banking on for shots at honours both domestic and in Europe.

Two goals in two games thus far in the Seria A and in smoking form for double figures, Napoli are in serious need of the Lagos-born star who has defied a massive player exodus at Napoli to continue firing and giving hope for the title-chasing side.

Napoli are back in Europe, this time for UEFA Champions League football after chasing the UEFA Europa League title last season with no result and Osimhen will be expected to lead his club’s charge.

Manchester United, on the other hand, are nowhere near the Champions League this season, a rarity for decades for the record 20-time English champions, and are on massive re-enforcement drive to shoot back to Europe and one of the players who has caught the eye is Osimhen.

That’s where the problem could lie in Manchester United’s frantic bid to end their goal scoring woes?

Will Osimhen dump Champions League football for Manchester United, who will play in the less regarded Europa League this season?

Osimhen heads for goal

Put your mouth where the money is – a popular parlance in football and that’s one of the things that is expected Osimhen should consider before he makes his decision whether to grab more millions at Old Trafford or hang on at Napoli to chase Seria A and Champions League titles, which could be elusive after all.

Part of the carrots dangled at Osimhen, according to Mendes, would be having Osimhen’s earnings at Napoli doubled and only clubs in the class of Manchester United, Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester City can afford such huge fees.

In truth, this is a very rare opportunity to secure his future and perhaps, generations forever and he shouldn’t pass this up to stay at Napoli.

Besides, United problems are temporary and they will get over it with time with the Glazers now open to spend more cash.

At 24, hot, daring and hungry, Osimhen needs challenges like this to prove he can be counted on as a great striker that will not only score goals, but save great clubs with dwindling fortunes.

United are in dire straits and will need everything they could grab at to get themselves out of the woods.

Things are gradually beginning to look up a bit with their back-to-back wins in the league and with the new legs coming in and sorting things out, United will surely breathe again.

Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag inherited a team that has been brutally grappled with poor results and will need to bring something extraordinary to the table to get the Red Devils flying again.

Indeed, this is Osimhen’s time to keep shining after he will still got years to keep his mega millions breathing in his accounts.

A footballer’s time is short and one wrong foot could mean all downhill for the player.

Osimhen has to strike the rod when it is still hot.
