Victor Osimhen is the more affordable of Barcelona summer transfer targets, but it is his high salary that could well complicate this switch, according to experts.
It has already been reported that Catalan giants Barcelona are prepared to splash a record-breaking 100 million euros for the Super Eagles star striker even though Galatasaray would want at least around 130 million euros.
Even at Galatasaray high valuation of their player, Osimhen is a lot more affordable than Harry Kane or Erling Haaland to replace Robert Lewandowski for the long-term.
What is therefore considered as the biggest hurdle to an Osimhen transfer to Barcelona is his annual salary of 21 million euros, which would upset the salary structure at the La Liga giants and most likely turn the dressing room against the Nigerian striker.
In Spain, a salary cap has been imposed on the clubs to keep them financially healthy.
The Catalans have been struggling with financial problems for years and have been exceeding the salary cap for years. That is why they are now burdened with a large debt estimated at approximately one billion euros.
Reports have already suggested that sporting director Deco as well as star player Lamine Yamal are big admirers of Osimhen.
His physicality, mobility and consistency have stood him out in Europe for several years now.
