Gernot Rohr has praised Man of the Match against Lesotho Victor Osimhen for the progress he has made, while also saluting the team for their never-say-die spirit.
Osimhen scored a brace and provided two assists for Nigeria to beat home team Lesotho 4-2 in Maseru tonight for the Eagles to consolidate leadership of their qualifying group for the 2021 AFCON.
“He’s progressing at his club Lille and scoring goals, which is good for his confidence,” Rohr said after the win in Lesotho.
“He also has a good understanding with his teammates.
“When I picked him for the AFCON, many were critical, saying I should have picked Kelechi (Iheanacho).
“He learnt a lot at the AFCON.”
Rohr also praised team spirit in the Eagles, saying they had fun in Lesotho.
“We have a young team and we’re progressing,” he restated.
“My team have a good spirit, they never give up. Even if they conceded a goal, they don’t give up.
“We chased the game after we conceded the first goal.
“In the second half, we were better after we changed our organisation.”
