Victor Osimhen has said he is delighted to be back with the Super Eagles after he missed last month’s friendlies in Austria.
The Napoli striker also targets a home win over Sierra Leone tomorrow for Nigeria to consolidate the leadership of their AFCON qualifying group.
“I am happy to be back to squad and we will give our all to win, but it won’t be easy,” said Osimhen, who was in quarantine in Italy last month when Nigeria faced Algeria and Tunisia in friendlies in Austria.
“We are preparing well. We are ready to go.”
Osimhen is the leading scorer in the qualifiers with three goals.
He opened his goals account at home against Benin, before he grabbed a brace and provided two assists when the Eagles beat hosts Lesotho 4-2 a year ago.
He will maintain his record of scoring in all the qualifiers with another goal tomorrow, but he insisted the team targets come first.
“My goals will come, but obviously the team victory comes before my personal ambitions. I hope to help the team if I feature and I am looking forward to the game,” he maintained.
The AFCON qualifier will be played without fans at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City and Osimhen admitted it is disappointing.
“It’s disappointing to play without fans, but we also understand the problem with the Pandemic,” he said.
“Let them support us from home.”
