Raphael Onyedika may have helped Club Brugge to a massive 3-0 home win over Antwerp, but his full-blooded tackle early in the second half has generated controversy in Belgium.

Some said the midfielder was lucky to get off with a yellow card for that tackle and should have been sent off.
“Yellow isn’t enough here, isn’t it? Onyedika does slip a bit, but still,” said commentator Peter Vandenbempt at Eleven Sports/DAZN .
“The VAR has to look at this. Onyedika came in very strongly and was too late anyway, the fact that he slipped does play to his advantage,” added analyst Franky Van der Elst.
While some others said it was a borderline case.
Ex-referee Serge Gumienny said: “He got a yellow card for it, but some thought it was worth a red card. For me this is a close case.
“I still think a yellow card can be defended because he kept both feet on the ground.
“In the replay you also see that he slips with his second leg and hits his opponent. So I don’t think this is a classic example of a two-legged tackle.”
Whatever be the case, Onyedjika will miss Sunday’s showdown against second-placed Union St.Gilloise.
