Table toppers Genk have got a big mental boost going into a busy schedule of fixtures with a 3-1 win over defending champions Club Brugge at the weekend, according to Paul Onuachu.
Onuachu scored his 14th goal in the league and Genk are now 15 points ahead of the Belgian champions.
“I already said that this was a crucial game. This game gives us a mental boost to start the busy period well,” Onuachu said.
Genk welcome Zulte Waregem Saturday, then visit Westerlo Tuesday, January 17, before they play away to Eupen three days later.
The Genk coach was sent off and Onuachu said emotions ran high against Club Brugge.
“There were indeed a lot of emotions involved,” the smiling Super Eagles further told Het Belang van Limburg.
“Our trainer got very angry and was sent to the stands.
“But I’m going to ask him to take it a bit easier next time.
“That energy is in the entire coaching staff, they transfer it to us, we feel it.”
