Paul Onuachu has said he believes the all-Super Eagles strike force with Cyriel Dessers at KRC Genk can only get better, saying that training together with his fellow Nigeria striker will enhance the understanding for them to score more goals for the Belgian club.
“Against Standard Liege our partnership went reasonably well. We didn’t score, but showed a decent performance,” he said.
“You have to train on it and get used to it. That’s tactics.
“I can play alone and hold up the ball upfront, but it’s always good to have the support of someone around you.”
Onuachu also said he believes he is not just one giant target man, but he is also comfortable playing with the ball at his feet.
“Because of my height, people often think that I am only good in the air, but I can also do something with my feet,” he explained.
“I can even say that I am better on the ground than in the air. Of course, you have to combine these qualities.”
Last season, Onuachu finished as the club’s leading scorer with nine goals in the league after his arrival from Denmark, while Dessers joined his hometown club for the new season on the back of being crowned Goal King in Holland.
Both strikers, who have already opened their goals account in the new season, will tonight face surprise package Beerschot, who will line up Ryan Sanusi, who also boasts Nigerian roots.
