Victor Osimhen saluted fans of Galatasaray in Italian “Solo il Gala” (Only Gala) as he flew on private jet from Wolfsburg, Germany, to Istanbul in Turkey, where he will complete his historic transfer to the Turkish champions.
This deal will mark a new chapter in the transfer history of the Turkish league.
According to Transfermarkt, Orkun Kökçü is currently the most expensive Turkish signing, at around €25 million. He joined Besiktas earlier this summer.
Today, Osimhen was aptly dressed in the traditional Galatasaray jersey and even wore a small beard.
Thousands of fans will welcome the 26-year-old striker at the airport in Istanbul as he takes a major step towards signing a four-year contract with ‘Gala’.
Last season while on loan from Italian club Napoli, Osimhen became a fans’ favourite after he scored 37 goals in all competitions for Galatasaray to win both the league and cup in Turkey.
Negotiations over a permanent transfer by Osimhen between Napoli and Galatasaray dragged for several weeks with the player insisting on the Turkish giants despite a hugely tempting offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.
