Kenneth Omeruo won the 2013 AFCON and he has now told SCORENigeria the Super Eagles can make another bold statement at the forthcoming tournament in Egypt by repeating the feat.
“Going to my second AFCON will be great and winning it again will not be such a bad idea,” Omeruo told SCORENigeria
“I won it in 2013 on my AFCON debut and I can win it again.”
The Chelsea defender added: “We have to be mentally alert and focused if we want to make a statement as a team in the AFCON.
“Winning the AFCON is not an accident, but with a good preparation a good team will win a tournament of this magnitude.
“We will give it our best and pray for some luck too so as to make a big statement at the AFCON in Egypt.”
Nigeria open their 2019 AFCON campaign on June 22 against debutants Burundi.
They are also drawn against Guinea and Madagascar in the first round of the competition.
