Will Kenneth Omeruo be the new Super Eagles captain under Finidi George after the coach insisted the most senior player in the team wears the captain armband?
“Seniority has decided the Super Eagles captaincy and that will be maintained in my time (as coach),” Finidi stated during his media tour.
Ekong was stand-in captain at the AFCON in February with substantive captain Ahmed Musa not getting any playing minutes during the tournament.
The 30-year-old PAOK of Greece defender made his Super Eagles debut against Chad on June 13, 2015.
However, Turkey-based defender Kenneth Omeruo, 30, made his own full international debut two years earlier – January 9, 2013 vs Cape Verde.
Is he serious?
Does longevity in the team equate to leadership ? 😯
With the way Finidi is talking something, I don’t
think he has anything he want to offer super eagle. He doesn’t have charismas, vibe that can draw people ‘s attention to his direction..
Thank God that he also is former ex-player, In 1998, when super eagle want to select New captain under THJIS LIBREGHT,. Is AMOKACHI, OKOCHA not senior OLISEH in super eagle before OLISEH was eventually made a CAPTAIN of the team.
I hope this is a joke. Why fixing what is not broken? The team had already settled for Ekong in the absence of Musa. Why raising unnecessary dust at a time when they have extremely important matches? There is enough tension based on some unwise decisions he made during the two friendlies, I hope he is not going to start pouring petrol instead of finding means of quenching the fire he started.
I hope Finidi is not planning his own fall so early even before kicking the ball as a coach
