Olympiacos defender Bruno Onyemaechi’s days in the Super Eagles may well be numbered, according to SCORENigeria checks
Onyemaechi was the only natural left back for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, but only saw 23 minutes of action in Kigali.
Instead, Ola Aina played at left back for Bright Osayi-Samuel to play at right fullback.
“He struggled the whole week in training camp,” a source close to the team informed SCORENigeria
Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has also said he is on the lookout for a left back.
The 26-year-old defender has won 11 caps since he made his Super Eagles debut in September 2023.
He was first capped by Jose Peseiro, but he did not see a minute of action during the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
He was an ever-present for the Super Eagles under coach Augustine Eguavoen for the five 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
