It can be revealed that KV Oostende striker Joseph Akpala turned down a chance to be a scout or youth coach at former team Club Brugge because he believed he still has goals in his boots.
Belgian multiple champions Club Brugge offered their former most prized jewel the job in October 2019 as reward for his superlative contributions while he was in the blue half of Brugge.
But the former Werder Bremen marksman told his former employers he still had a few years more before he would hang up his boots.
Akpala, who returned to Belgium two years ago to help Oostende fight off relegation, told SCORENigeria he was delighted to be honoured by his former club and will relish another chance to work with them.
Akpala was Jupiler League goal long powered him 15 goals in his first season at Brugge in 2009.
He spent further four seasons there before he moved to Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga in the 2012/13 season.
