Nigeria’s most expensive goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has revealed that Watford were only one of several other Premier League clubs who wanted to sign him.
The Super Eagles No 1 also named Southampton, Burnley and Crystal Palace as Premier League clubs who were interested in signing him.
“Southampton, Burnley and Crystal Palace were also after me and were in talks with my management,” Okoye opened up.
Watford have since signed him for a record transfer fee of about seven Million Euros.
He has signed a contract for five and half years.
The agreement will come into effect on January 1, 2022, but he will return to Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam on loan before he heads back to England at the end of this season.
