A top official has told SCORENigeria the main reason the players were placed on half salary after they lost their first match of the NPFL season 2-0 to Kwara United at home in Jos.
The official said the players were not placed on half salary because they lost the game, but their attitude to job is unacceptable.
“The players have been placed on half salary and that was not because we lost to Kwara United at home. We got many points away last season, so that’s part of the game. But they have their salaries cut because of their unserious attitude to job,” he told SCORENigeria
“The manner they played the game was so poor as if nothing was at stake.
“Imagine players under a professional contract decided not to participate in training under the guise of not feeling too well and didn’t deem it fit to inform the coach, the club doctor or any management member, who will take such?
“Imaging the players who were claiming to be injured or sick then reported to training and showed no sign of illness or injury the evening they announced the slash in salary.”
When asked how long this sanction will last, the official simply answered: “As long as they continue to show no seriousness to their job.”
