CAF announced today that the Super Eagles submitted a 40-man provisional squad for next month’s AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
Most other AFCON finalists submitted bigger squads from which they will make their final selections.

A breakdown of the squad showed six goalkeepers include three who feature in the NPFL and yet to be capped at full international level – Olorunleke Ojo, Christian Nwoke and Obasogie Amas.
There are also 13 defenders, eight midfielders and 13 forwards.
Coach Jose Peseiro will submit a final 27-man squad to CAF not later than January 3, 2024.
Nigeria open their 2023 AFCON campaign on January 14 in Abidjan against Equatorial Guinea.
Hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau are the other teams in Group A.
