As Super Eagles fans wait on the FIFA verdict on South Africa for fielding a suspended player, a top NFF official has told SCORENigeria that this may not take a little more time than hoped.
Even though Lesotho did not lodge an official protest against South Africa within the stipulated deadline, the FIFA disciplinary Committee could still enforce the sanctions against Bafana Bafana for lining up Teboho Mokoena against Lesotho even though he had received two bookings prior.
A top NFF official said a FIFA ruling on the matter may not be immediately.
“The FIFA verdict on South Africa may not be immediately,” he cautioned.
“I recall it took about three months before they docked the Super Eagles three points and three goals for fielding suspended Shehu Abdullahi against Algeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Constantine.
“Whenever they decide, we’re confident that it will be in our favour.”
Besides docking the points and goals, NFF also had to pay a fine.
