Experienced campaigner Anthony Nwakaeme has vowed that Trabzonspor plan to win their remaining six matches to stay in serious contention for the Turkish Super Lig title.
Trabzonspor took a major step in their bid to win the Turkish league four years since their last conquest when they beat leaders Galatasaray 2-1 at home last weekend.
Both Trabzonspor and Fenerbache are a point behind leaders Galatasaray, who play an outstanding match later today at Goztepe.
“Every match is important. We’ve taken the first and important step (victory vs Galatasaray). There are six weeks left. We’ll start with Alanyaspor. We’ll take it one match at a time and try to win every game,” said the forward, who provided the assist for the winning goal versus Galatasaray.
Nwakaeme, who played a big role for Trabzonspor to win the Super Lig in the 2021/2022 season, praised his team for the hard work they put in to beat Galatasaray.
“It was a very important match. We were aware of that,” he said.
“Galatasaray are a good team. We worked all week to win. We knew that if we won, we would get much closer to our opponents.
“We are very happy for our city and our tea.”
