Trabzonspor legend Necmi Perekli has admitted that Anthony Nwakaeme is a better player than he was.
Perekli, who holds the record of the player to have scored in the first four games of the season for the club since 1976/1977 season, said he is tired of carrying the record and hope Nwakaeme scored three goals in next games to surpass his feat of scoring six goals in first six games of the season.
“I said Nwakaeme too is good. I was scoring goals, the man was scoring goals and assisting,” he said.
“He has more features than me, so he is better. He is much more talented.
“But he has to catch that number as well.”
He further said: “I also had four goals in four matches, but I scored in the fifth match. The fifth match was against Besiktas and I scored two goals in that match.
“So I scored six goals in the first five matches. Nwakaeme needs to score two goals in the match he will play this week in order to catch me.
“I am tired of carrying this for 42 years, I have to rest, I pray that he will score 3 goals and pass me.
“I am tired of carrying this record, let him pass me, let the weight be on his shoulders.
“Nwakaeme is a special player who should be congratulated.”
