Former Nigeria star Victor Ikpeba has maintained that despite his recent instability and the recall of Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, Stanley Nwabali remains the Super Eagles No 1.
Alarm has been raised concerning the composure of Nwabali between the Super Eagles post and as such fans have warmly welcomed the return of Okoye to the national team.
“Maduka Okoye is back, but Nwabali remains the Super Eagles No 1 despite the recent concerns,” Ikpeba said on Monday Night Football
“At this point, all the players are needed.
Victor (Osimhen) has been fantastic, we missed him in the early stages of the World Cup qualifiers, Calvin Bassey also fantastic, (Jerome) Akor has shown flashes, so too Tolu (Arokodare).”
He continued: “We have the fire power to beat Gabon and the boys want to qualify for the World Cup with this second chance, which was written in the stars.
“Two hundred million Nigerians want the boys to do the business.”
