Last season’s top scorer in the Nigeria Premier League, Emeka Obioma, has quit champions Enyimba.
In a statement from his legal representatives, Obioma said he is now a free agent after the expiry of his two-year contract with Enyimba.
Samuel E Ogbah of the law firm Activity Chambers, Obioma’s legal representatives, announced the striker has moved on with his career after ending his two-year stint with the Aba giants.
“Our client has terminated his contract with Just Cause and is now free to join any club he wishes to join as he is no longer an Enyimba player,” he stated.
“We followed the correct legal procedure and even FIFA were notified at all times so due process was followed.
“Besides, he signed a two-year contract with the club and the second season of that two-year contract was the just concluded season and ordinarily, on that fact alone, he is entitled to leave on a Bosman free transfer.”
Obioma, who scored 16 goals this past season, is reportedly now set to sign for Tunisian giants Esperance.
