FC Ifeanyiubah, who are fighting for their survival in the NPFL, today snatched a late draw at home to deny the coronation of Akwa United as champions.
Ubong Friday gave Akwa United the lead in the 79th minute, when he curled home a free kick.
However, Uzochukwu Ifejiofor restored parity for the home team three minutes from time.
Akwa United now have 68 points from 36 matches and will achieve an unassailable 71 points should they beat MFM FC in Uyo on Sunday.
Rivers United were held to a 2-2 draw by hosts MFM FC.
Title contenders Nasarawa United were held to a goalless draw by Dakkada, while Kano Pillars championship dreams suffered a big body blow when they fell 1-0 at Kwara United.
Nasarawa United are second on 62 points, while Pillars are fourth with 61 points.
Abia Warriors posted the biggest win of the day after they trounced already relegated Adamawa United 5-1.
Chukwuemeka Obioma netted a hat-trick for the Umuahia outfit to occupy 14th place with 44 points.
Sunshine Stars climbed to safety courtesy of a hard-fought 3-2 home win over Plateau United.
They are now 16th in the standings with 41 points, a point above of the drop zone.
There were also home wins for Enugu Rangers and Wikki Tourists, while Lobi Stars and Jigawa Golden Stars were held at home by third-placed Enyimba and Warri Wolves, respectively.
