The jobs of at least three NPFL coaches are now hanging by a thread on the back of disappointing results – John Obuh of Akwa United, Bala Nkiyu from Nasarawa United and Ibrahim Musa of Kano Pillars.
Experienced Nkiyu did not travel with bottom club Nasarawa United when they snatched an encouraging 1-1 draw at equally struggling Akwa United today.
The Lafia club remain bottom of the standings on two points from five matches.
Akwa United, on the other hand, have been sucked into the relegation zone after Heartland pipped fellow strugglers Jigawa Golden Stars 1-0.
Former Flying Eagles coach Obuh must therefore fear his job is on the line going by the recent results of the Uyo club.
He has been out of work for several months after he parted ways with Kwara United.
The future of coach Ibrahim A.Musa is also uncertain as Kano Pillars are at the wrong end of the table.
Today, they were held to a draw at home by Wikki Tourists.
The four-time NPFL kings now have only two points from four matches.
‘Jugunu’ may have outlived former chairman Tukur Babangida, but it may not be too far away before he too is shown the door at the hugely followed Kano club.
Former Eagles skipper Sylvanus Okpala has now been named new Rangers coach as replacement for Benedict Ugwu, who was fired earlier today after the team fell 2-0 at home to promoted Akwa Starlets.
Plateau United extended their lead at the top of the table on the back of a 3-1 win at Delta Force.
They now have 13 points from five matches.
Eight-time champions Enyimba pushed closer to the title contenders after they stopped Adamawa United 2-0 in Aba.
They now have 10 points from five matches, same as Lobi Stars and Wikki Tourists.
