Just when it was looking like NPFL leaders Remo Stars were running away with at least a precious point at closest rivals Rivers United, central defender Boluwaji Sholumade popped up to head home the match winner.
It was the first goal by the 22-year-old former Flying Eagles defender this season.
The former Akwa United and Sunshine Stars defence star is strong in the tackle, fast and loves to join in the attack.
Sunday’s 84th minute winner in this top-of-the-table clash gave Rivers United all three points for them to cut back the lead of Remo Stars at the top to five points with six rounds of matches to the end of the season.
‘The Pride of Rivers’ now have 55 points from 32 matches, while Remo Stars are on 60 points with a game in hand.
It now promises to be a more exciting run-in to the NPFL championship this season.
