NPFL hotshot Sunusi Ibrahim is set to start for the Nigeria U23s in today’s must-win U23 AFCON playoff against Sudan after he impressed in the first leg as a substitute.
The all-action Nasarawa United striker, who finished joint top scorer in the NPFL last season with 10 goals, was lively when he came in to play on the wings in Omdurman.
Coach Imama Ampakabo will ring several changes to the team as they seek to overturn a 1-0 loss they suffered in Sudan last week.
Kelechi Nwakali, who missed the first leg in Sudan as he sorted out his transfer to Spanish side SD Huesca, will also start in the heart of the midfield as Nigeria go for broke in Asaba today.
The team will again count of foreign pros, Taiwo Awoniyi and Stephen Odey, to lead their charge for goals against the visitors.
“I believe Stephen Odey and I as well as the rest of the team can do the business,” said Awoniyi.
“We will fight for the team because we have to win and qualify for the U23 AFCON in Egypt.”
The match will be live on AIT from 4pm.
